We
designed a window seat, beautifully implemented by
Shamrock Construction, to
fill the large box bay window. Not only does it provide seating
with an adorable cushion fabricated by
Elegant Decor, but it also has cubbies and a toy box
for extra storage.
Customizing the plain roller shades
with some ribbon and orange tassels dressed them up without
busting our budget. Then we topped the windows with simple
valances we made in the stripe and dot fabrics, slipped onto
tension rods.
In lieu of a traditional changing table, we found a solid
wood chest of drawers at a thrift shop and transformed it with a
little paint. We continued on by painting an old side table
(round of course) in the same white with stripes of melon,
brown, and white on the top. Nestled between those pieces is a
comfy rocking/reclining chair that was chosen to coordinate both
with the nursery and with Mommy and Daddy's bedroom (for later).
Because
there was no overhead lighting, we festooned the ceiling with
colorful paper lanterns. A white table lamp and a swag shade
were accented with some melon/aqua ribbon.
The room was finished off with a collection of sentimental
accessories -- mementos from
Mommy and Daddy's childhood or gifts to Baby. Paintings
of the family's cats adorn the wall above the changing table. |
